WHAT ARE TANNINS
Tannins are organic materials created by water coming into contact with decomposing vegetation. Most commonly found in Dug wells, rivers and lakes.
ACCEPTABLE CONCENTRATION
There are no "acceptable health concentrations" in place for tannins. As it is listed as an "aesthetic objective" only.
Tannins do become a health concern when sterilizing water with ultraviolet treatment, as the tannins must be removed first for the ultraviolet to function properly.
HOW DO YOU REMOVE TANNINS FROM WATER?
The most effective treatment for removal of tannins is ion exchange, with an Anion Base resin for colour removal.
Water Softener Systems are the most effective system for whole home tannin removal.
